New Year at the Priory

orn-gold

You are cordially invited to arrive between 7.15 p.m. and 7.30 p.m., when our Restaurant Manager, and his experienced team, will take you through the evening to midnight when we will ‘toast’ the New Year in a traditional way.

Before all the celebrating though, pre-dinner drinks and delicious canapés will be served in the Drawing Room and Cloisters Bar whilst our resident pianist, Julie Lewis, plays some jazz and classical favourites (and after dinner too, prior to midnight). At approximately 8.00 p.m. you will be shown to your table to sample the delights of our exquisite ‘5-Course Gala Dinner’, which has been prepared for you by our Head Chef, Stephan Guinebault, and his dedicated brigade. During the course of the evening, we have planned some exciting, up-close, table-magic for your further enjoyment.

Itinerary for 30th – 2nd

orn-gold

30th December

Should you choose to arrive today, having settled into your room or suite, and depending on the time, you may wish to partake in a leisurely lunch or relax and enjoy afternoon tea by the fire in the Drawing Room from 3.30 p.m. Our afternoon tea menu offers a variety of tempting options including Tea with Apple Cake, ‘Dorset Cream Tea’ with homemade scones, jam and clotted cream, and the Priory’s very own ‘Ritzy Tea’ with scones, cakes, and pastries. Dinner is served between 7.00 p.m. and 9.30 p.m., and your evening begins with pre-dinner drinks and a selection of freshly prepared canapés served in the Drawing Room and Cloisters Bar.

New Year’s Eve

For those of you who arrived yesterday, enjoy a relaxing start to the day by sampling the delights of The Priory’s traditional breakfast menu (7.30 a.m. until 9.30 a.m.) including specialties of Smoked Salmon with Scrambled Eggs, and Grilled Kippers. For both new arrivals and resident guests, however, you choose to spend your time today, make sure you still have an appetite for the indulgences of the evening ahead. Our Restaurant Manager, and his experienced team, will take you through the evening to midnight when we toast in the New Year with a complimentary glass of Champagne. Before all the celebrating though, enjoy your own choice of pre-dinner drinks accompanied by delicious canapés, served in the Drawing Room and Cloisters Bar, followed by a sumptuous, candle-lit ‘Tasting Menu’ with Coffee and Petits Fours; and the enjoyment of some ‘up-close table magic for your entertainment. “Bon Appetit” and “Happy New Year”.

New Year’s Day

The morning after the night before! Perhaps this is the morning to take advantage of a continental breakfast in the comfort of your room? Whatever your thoughts about breakfast, today must surely be a day for rest and relaxation…and perhaps some fresh air! A walk in the grounds or a stroll around Wareham is highly recommended to build up your appetite for lunch. New Year’s Day lunch at the hotel is popular with residents and non-residents alike, so be sure to make an advance reservation if it is your intention to eat with us. Alternatively, you may wish to wend your way to one of the area’s well-known local public houses for a traditional pub lunch (for which you may also need to make a reservation!). Dinner is served between 7.00 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. and is preceded by pre-dinner drinks and freshly made canapés in the Drawing Room and Cloisters Bar.

2nd January

There is plenty of time to linger over breakfast this morning (7.30 a.m. until 9.30 a.m.), as bedrooms and suites need not be vacated until 12 noon. Bearing this in mind, you may wish to take a last stroll around the gardens, or even stay a while longer for some lunch or a light snack before returning home. Until next year then? “We wish you a safe journey home and a healthy and prosperous new year.”

Room Facilities

The Priory Hotel’s eighteen guest rooms range from romantic suites in the Boathouse on the riverbank (with Jacuzzi/Spa baths), to smaller (but no less romantic) bedrooms overlooking the beautiful grounds, gardens, and courtyard. Each room has been individually furnished to exude its own warmth and special charm using soft furnishing such as Mulberry chenille’s, Varanasi silks, Lewis and Wood Toile-du-Jouy, Sanderson linens, and Nina Campbell palettes (to name but a few). All guest rooms are equipped with Luxury Towelling Bathrobes, Molton Brown Toiletries, Smart TV, Telephone, Hair Dryer, WiFi/Broadband, Mineral Water, Fresh Fruit, Magazines and Books; most rooms also have a Mini Bar. As the hotel does not have a lift, access to our first and second-floor bedrooms is via the stairs; access to our Abbots Cellar Restaurant is also via stairs.

Deposit

A non-refundable deposit of £200.00 is required to secure every room reservation made for the Christmas period, together with a written letter of confirmation.

Cancellation Charges

In instances where the hotel is unable to re-let accommodation that is cancelled during the following months, a percentage of the total room tariff will be charged accordingly – October 50%, November 75%, and December 100%. We therefore strongly recommend the use of U.K. holiday insurance.
