The Garden Room at The Priory brings the outside in, come rain or shine you will dine with views over our lawn and down to the river. With ceiling-height windows that open fully, green oak beams, and luxury Mulberry Home interiors, we hope to bring you one of Dorset’s most memorable and unique dining experiences.
Head Chef Stephan Guinebault’s ethos lies at the heart of all he does. When Stephan joined The Priory in 2006, he brought a wealth of knowledge and experience, which all stemmed from growing up on his grandmother’s (grand-maman) farm in the Loire Valley, and her cooking. Motivated by his love of (her) food, he started work as an apprentice chef while simultaneously attending catering college. He progressed through Michelin and Relais & Chateaux establishments in France, gaining invaluable classical training and an understanding of regional dishes and techniques. Today, Stephan’s passion for food is as evident as ever. He thrives on using fine, locally sourced, seasonal produce, with a guaranteed provenance.
Booking Information
Please mention any dietary requirements, allergies, or intolerances when booking. Our food is a huge part of our experience and given the style and nature of our cuisine, we do not offer a vegan menu, more than happy to discuss dishes on our menu and how these can be adapted for your visit.
Please kindly note that a booking is only confirmed once a deposit of £10 per person has been received (refundable if cancellation is made 3 days or more before the date of your reservation).
Young Children
Children over the age of eight are very welcome in our dining room. Younger children when part of a private party using our private dining room or exclusive use of the hotel are most welcome. This includes babes in arms.
Dress Code
The Garden Room Restaurant is smart casual. Smart jeans are suitable; men often wear a jacket in the evening. During the summer months, at lunch, it would be acceptable for men to wear tailored shorts with a shirt. We politely request no trainers or flip-flops, please. Many people choose The Priory to celebrate special occasions, we operate a dress code to ensure the atmosphere of our dining room reflects that.
Thank you for your understanding and for helping us keep The Priory experience special for all our guests.
Service charge: On your bill, non-residents will find a 12.5% and residents a 5% discretionary service charge. We feel the choice should be left to our customers to show their appreciation. 100% of which is split fairly between everyone who works here.
Not just for residents, whether a breakfast meeting or fuel for the day ahead, our breakfast menu is available daily.
Enjoy your morning coffee riverside on our terrace or in the comfort of our drawing room by the roaring fire. Available to Residents and Non Residents daily.
Our a la carte lunch menu brings you a choice of expertly crafted, mouth watering dishes with a focus on the very best of local, and seasonal Dorset produce.
